CHRIST THRU THE LENS
During this Bible study, we will explore Christian themes from the Prince Caspian movie based upon the book by C.S. Lewis. Lewis
had what could be called a biblical imagination.
In this sequel to The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, the four Pevensie children return to Narnia to aid Prince Caspian in his struggle
for the throne against his corrupt uncle, King Miraz.
Each evening we gather together, we will view a quarter of the film and explore the Christian themes present in the film.

FIREPROOF, September 13 at 6:30 p.m.
You don't find many churches making theatrical films. You especially don't find many churches making films starring Kirk
Cameron about a firefighter in a crumbling marriage addicted to online porn.
"All throughout the movie ... there are issues of communications, money, sex, addiction, porn, extramarital affairs, feeling
respected at work but not at home, feeling respected by friends but not at home," Cameron told CNN.
It was also an unexpected hit, when in September 2008, it debuted at No. 4 at the box office, eventually bringing in $33.5
million.
"'Fireproof' was never marketed as a Christian movie. This is a movie about marriage," Cameron said. "The fact is, though,
the gospel is presented, and it's a central part of the storyline."
AMAZING GRACE, November 22, 6:30 p.m.
Behind the song you love is a story you will never forget.
The central figure in Amazing Grace is William Wilberforce (1759-1833). He is played by loan Gruffudd as the zealous believer in
God, human rights activist and British member of Parliament, who battled through discouragement and illness for two decades to
end the slave trade in England. In a time of personal crisis, Wilberforce is inspired and encouraged in his long fight to abolish
slavery by the former slave ship master, John Newton (Albert Finney), who wrote the beloved hymn "Amazing Grace" following
his conversion to Christianity.
THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, Wednesday, March 31, 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
This film depicts the final hours of Jesus Christ's earthly ministry, starting from His prayers in the garden and His betrayal at
the hands of Judas Iscariot. It goes on to show the trials He endured under Pontius Pilate and King Herod as well as the torture
and ridicule He suffered.
Once the death sentence is pronounced, He carries a heavy wooden cross to Golgotha amidst throngs of jeering citizens and
horrendous beatings, while a few citizens do what they can to help Him.
Throughout this time, we are shown memories from His past with His mother and Disciples, where He gives His teachings. Finally,
He is crucified, dies, and is buried, but resurrects from the dead on the third day.
Join us in preparation, devotion and debrief for the Passion Week Wednesday as we prepare our hearts and minds for the pangs
of death on Good Friday and the alleluia joys of Easter Morning by experiencing this movie together.
