CONFIRMATION

In preparation for full communing membership in the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, the 6th through 8th graders enter a covenant relationship with the Lord and His church. The purpose of the covenant relationship is to remind you of your special status as baptized children of God and prepare you for full membership in the church. It is expected that you will partner with your parents and the other members of the church to grow in your relationship with God and the church. An important element of your spiritual growth will continue to come from regular attendance at worship and Sunday school, both during and after confirmation.

CONFIRMATION INSTRUCTION IS SPECIFIC FOR EACH GRADE:
Sixth Graders...
explore our history through learning about creation, fall & rescue, the flood, how God's children have been and are delivered through God's Law and Gospel.

Seventh Graders...
dive into The 10 Commandments, the Lord's Prayer, and baptism.

Eighth Graders...
discover the Creeds, the Office of the Keys and Confession, and the Lord's Supper.
A small set of events and activities will be required to help measure progress.
1. Attend Confirmation class regularly and complete homework, memory, and other assigned projects.
2. Complete and turn in 16 Family Worship Notes.
3. Participate in a minimum of two servant events per year.
4. Participate in a special fall retreat (7th and 8th grade).
5. Participate in a confirmation Spiritual Growth Event (8th grade).

Successful completion of confirmation instruction as described above is an important milestone in your spiritual life and should involve cooperation with your parents, teachers, Pastors, elder, and peers.

Parents meet with teachers at least twice a year to be in constant communication about your child's growth.
