OUR REDEEMER KIDS (ORKS)

Our Redeemer Kids is a Ministry for 5th - 8th grade youth and their families. Our ministry tries to provide a safe environment in which to have fun while walking your faith journey with your Savior, Jesus Christ. In every activity we focus on creating a safe place to hang out and serve in Christian love. Every month of the school year there is an event that you can participate in besides attending weekly Sunday School and confirmation classes. As an active member of this youth group you are required to participate in two service activities a year and help out with our Peach Fundraiser. For more information please contact the Director of Youth Ministry, Kaja Mueller at 338-5626.

Lock-in:

When all of us got to the church on Friday evening we put our stuff in our assigned rooms and went to the Fellowship Hall. We made up some simple rules to follow throughout the night. Some were to: listen to the person who is speaking, respect God's House, no running, and just have FUN. After the rules where set we all loaded up in the vehicles and went to Mercer to swim and play games. We went back to the Church and ate some junk food and did a quick bible study. During the bible study we had to get into groups and make a list of things that we do to get ready for the day. After that we played a lot of group games that required everyone to participate. Some of the games we played were Winkum, Shuffle Your Buns, Saddens, and a game that involved a rope and making shapes. Pastor Hartwig had a service that was called Service of Lights- the light were off and we all got to hold a candle. That was really fun. Later we played more games and had a choice to stay up or go watch a movie. Most of the people who watched a movie fell asleep. By the time it was 7 a.m. we were all ready to go home and sleep for a few hours. We all had a lot of fun and we are hoping that you all come again next year.

December 2009 Children's Christmas Service:

The Children's Christmas Service was a big hit. We had various middle school youth play their musical instruments before the service started and during the hymns the congregation sing. The children have been practicing since October. Thanks to Mrs. Robinson for directing and Ms. Eckhart who played the piano. It was very fun and I will look forward to doing it again next year. God Bless!
