History

On January 11, 1987, the Church Council of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church authorized the formation of a committee to formulate plans for replacing the twelve main windows in the narthex and sanctuary of our church. A budget of $40,000 was proposed to the congregation for the project. The program was adopted and the committee was authorized to proceed with the replacement of the windows.

The medium of faceted stained glass was selected. Jerry Krauski, Faceted Glass and Liturgical Environments was given a contract to design, build, and install the windows. Storm panels were also installed over the stained glass for energy conservation. The entire project was completed with a final budget of $33,100.

The faceted glass in the windows varies from 3/4" to 1" in thickness. The chunks of stained glass are cut and arranged on a bed of silica sand. The entire window is then held together with a poured epoxy. The epoxy also becomes part of the design. The windows will vary in hue and intensity as the light changes during each day. They have become a welcome addition to our church and worship services.

The windows were dedicated to the glory of God on Palm Sunday, March 19, 1989.
