Organizations
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild organizes the ordering and placement of altar flowers, altar linen care, parament care, candle care, baptismal napkins, communion ware cleaning, and banner placement for church services and weddings. Contact Lynn Kubit.
Lutheran Layman's League
Our Redeemer's men's group that meets in the months of January, March, May, August, and October for business, special programs, and fellowship. This group also hosts several dinners during the year. One important outreach ministry this group supports is 511 Melrose, the meeting place for Iowa City Alcoholics Anonymous groups. An annual Pancake Day raises funds for the upkeep of the house. All men over age 18 are encouraged to join. Contact Jerry Sexton for more information.
Women's Mission Guild
Our Redeemer's Women's Mission Guild is a part of the International Lutheran Women's Missionary League, known as LWML. We meet the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. Our purpose is to help women grow spiritually through educational programs, and to help women serve through mission education and service. All women are encouraged to attend. Contact Sharon Hintze.
Families with Young Children
This group is open to any family with children 0-16 years old. We welcome married couples, singles and singles with significant others who would enjoy meeting every month for devotion, food, fun and fellowship. We alternate activities between adults only and whole family events. Contact Dawn Ealy or Dawn Saterfield.
Aid Association for Lutherans
AAL is a fraternal insurance company with Branch 2091 meeting at church between services on the 2nd Sunday of each month. Activities include community service projects and fund raisers for people in need. Branch also sponsors 2-3 activities for the congregation annually. Contact Dick Kubit.
TNT (Twenties and Thirties)
This group is for anyone in this age group, single or married. TNT usually meets once a month for a time of Bible study and then has a social event. We would love to have you join us! For more information, contact the church office (338-5626).
Men of Integrity
This men's Bible study group meets the first and third Saturday of each month. We gather at the East Side Hy-Vee on 1st Avenue. We begin with breakfast at 7:00 am and have a Bible study from 7:45-8:30 am.
Sports Ministries
This is another opportunity for Christian fellowship at Our Redeemer. We frequently participate in both church and city leagues in the following sports: co-ed volleyball, men's basketball, and co-ed softball. We will be looking for more opportunities and the future and would love to have you join us! Contact the church office for more information (338-5626).
OWLS (Older, Wiser Lutherans)
This group is for those of us who are over 40 and don't fit into any other "category". We meet whenever anyone comes up with activity. It is strictly a group gathering for fun and fellowship: a very, very informal group. Contact the church office for more information (338-5626).
Caresciples
Caresciples are small Bible study, fellowship and prayer groups that meet in homes or the church depending on what works best for the members of the group. Each group chooses their own materials to study and sets their own time for meeting; some may be monthly, some more often. Contact the church office for more information (338-5626).
